Right After Your Visit

Pro Tip

Before you leave, confirm: what needs scheduling, when results will arrive, and who to contact with questions.

Organize Tasks

  • Tests: date, location, prep (fasting, meds to hold).
  • Referrals: specialist name, phone, records sent?
  • Medications: new starts, dose changes, refills needed.
  • Follow-up visit: when to return and why.

Scheduling & Results

Schedule Promptly

Book tests and referrals within a few days. Ask about wait times and whether earlier slots are available.

Track Results

Note how results will arrive (portal, call). If you don't hear back by the expected date, contact your clinic.

Remember

Set calendar reminders for tests, medication refills, and follow-up visits. Share reminders with a caregiver if helpful.

When to Call the Clinic

  • Symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear.
  • Side effects from a new medication.
  • Referral delays or missing results.
  • Clarification needed on instructions or prep.

Important

Use urgent care or emergency services for severe chest pain, trouble breathing, fainting, heavy bleeding, or stroke-like symptoms.
